None of these videos were made by me, of course, because I wouldn’t even know where to start. I’ve found all this lovely stuff on YouTube.

I'm having a Companions Appreciation Day, apparently. Which basically means I'm watching companions fanvideos on youtube and crying my eyes out. I didn't plan it, but now I just can't stop. I think everyone should have a Companions Appreciation Day, every once in a while.

I just can't help it, really.They're all so beautiful and special and important. I want to grab a random Whovian and tell them that it's these people that make Doctor Who what it is. They may not always be there, they may go away or die or forget, but they do leave a mark. They need the Doctor, sure, but what does he actually do for them? He just makes them see themselves, makes them see all the wonderful, amazing potential they're not using yet. And the Doctor himself needs them so fucking much - because, as much as aliens are awesome, the companions make him human. And without human in him, what would the Doctor be? A Time Lord Victorious, once again?



(Basically, if I catch just another fan saying "oh but Donna won't ever be important again, she was special just because the Doctor said so", I'll scream. The Doctor didn't make her brave and kind and compassionate and he didn't make her brilliant, and I know I shouldn't care because she's just a character but it's all just so fucking insulting.

Also, friendly reminder that - even if she's not one of my favourite companions - Martha Jones is an intelligent, capable woman who works for UNIT and the badass who saved the world during the Year That Never Was. Actually, in a way she is not one of my favourite companions because I've always felt she didn't need the Doctor as much as the others ...

And don't get me started on Rose. And, for fuck's sake, why isn't anybody writing lenghty spin-offs about Jenny? Jenny the Doctor's Daughter, not Jenny Flint - though Jenny and Vastra are so awesome it's almost ridiculous.)

So .... ho appena visto lo special per il cinquantesimo anniversario di Doctor Who.
Non credevo che l'avrei mai detto, perché in genere i miei commenti su Quell'Uomo sono "OMMIODDIO ANGELI, ANGELI EVERYWHERE" e "SMETTILA DI UCCIDERE I PERSONAGGI CHE AMO", ma ... un po' ti ringrazio di esistere, Moffat.
Perché JohnHurt!Doctor è un Doctor meraviglioso e qualcuno DEVE scriverci sopra tutte le fanfiction hurt/comfort possibili e immaginabili. Perché ho avuto la possibilità di rivedere Ten, e di vederlo con Eleven in un contesto diverso da un prompt p0rn sull'Eleven Era Kinkmeme - per quanto apprezzi i prompt e il p0rn e i kinkmeme. Perché c'è Rose solo che mi ricorda un po' un misto tra Rose e River e Idris e fa qualcosa di meraviglioso. Perché YAY REFERENCES e I don't want to go e NON LASCIARE LA PRESA CLARA e il vortex manipulator di Jack e la sciarpa e Elisabetta I - ci stavano pensando fin da quella battuta del Dream Lord! Anche se continuo a pensare che un po' si riferisse anche a Donna - e la reazione di JohnHurt!Doctor (8.5!Doctor?) davanti al cacciavite sonico mi ricorda tantissimo Jack in The Empty Child. Perché Liz I è la degna antenata di Liz X e una lady molto molto badass. Perché oltre alle references c'è pure il foreshadowing e tanti tanti TARDIS.
Perché è un tributo a tutti i Dottori, passati presenti futuri indefiniti, ma non solo a loro - è un tributo al Dottore.
Perché, ehi, Gallifrey è bloccata, non bruciata - e questo spiega The End Of Time. E Gallifrey è ancora là fuori - il che significa che là fuori ci sono ancora anche Rassilon e i Time Lord ... E IL MASTER.

... E sì, okay, l'ultimo pezzo è solo headcanon e congetture basate sulla fine dell'episodio, ma francamente chissenefrega, ok? Ho appena visto qualcosa di bello in modo indescrivibile e sono solo una piccola fangirl sovreccitata, non posso mica fare ragionamenti sensati o coerenti al momento, no?

Ora mi aspetto un sacco di Eleven/Ten/Eight-and-something, comunque. E di Eight-and-Something/Rose. E di Eleven/Ten, Eight-and-Something/Ten (I'M SORRY I'M SO SORRY SHIPPING), Eight-and-Something/Clara, un paio di femslash Rose/Clara ... e, okay, in realtà mi aspetto un po' di Everyone/Everyone in generale.
It's good to be a fangirl.

Gonna talk about my major pet-peeve when it comes to the Doctor Who Fandom now: namely, that we’ve got a gorgeous assemble of beautiful, strong, proud female characters and sometimes it feels like no-one ever notices it.

And of course I could go on about how some fans just plain ignore Martha or, to throw some guys in, how they fail to notice the important changes in Mickey’s character and still honestly don’t get why anyone would choose Rory over the Doctor. But right now I’m not as pissed as when I started this little rage-filled thingy, so I'll save all of that for another time.

I’m just gonna say: if you still think the companions are not as important as the Doctor or they’re actually just here to make him look good and give him something to protect, then please rewatch all the seasons from episode one.
Like, starting now.
