You find a piece of Viking fiction that looks quite good. It's got shieldmaidens. It's got magicians.

Then you discover that the magician are all male - not a völva, not a spækona, not a wife doing simple protection spells with a spindle. And the male magicians and seers aren't even a tiny bit effemminate or even just rumored to be gay. Also, no Finns or Saami shamans in sight.

... Seriously, am I the only one who wants to see that kind of stuff? The only one?

(Okay, I am.)

I sat down and learned it all when I first found out about the song - took me a while, too - but after a couple of hours I could remember only the first and the last bit. I tried again and again, but it just doesn't stick (predictably). XD

Oh no you don't. You won't bring me into another beautifully insane fandom. You cannot!
...or maybe just a teeny tiny bit?

BTW, talking about awesome songs, I think this one was linked in the description of one of the comics, but I'm not sure, so ...

But in case you already saw this video, have another one as well.

Makes you wonder what Norwegians actually think about their neighbours, doesn't it? XD

Oh, I will ...
First, it'll be just SATW. Then, perhaps you'll check Niels & Gang out, because it's the one with the threesome and the psychopathic but absolutely fabulous Dane and the - wait for it! - Scottish James Bond parody who may look more like an Englishman but is actually into kilts and horse-riding and caber tossing. Then, you'll discover all the rest of it - and soon you will be lost.
Afraid yet? ;)

... But seriously, you should check out her mythology comics, at least. I bet you'd love them. ^^

That song- That song is absolutely A-W-E-S-O-M-E! I'm wheezing, right now! X°D
I didn't know the second vid either, and I'm not quite sure I get it at all, but it's hilarious anyway - does it make any sense? Maybe I'm mad, but I was laughing hard just by hearing those accents.

You're cruel. And I love you, but you're cruel all the same. I mean, how can you talk of Scots Bond parodies - to me! - and expect me not to fall right into the abyss? I am very much afraid. For what little is left of my sanity, if not else. XD

I knew the drawing of Loki and his children, but the other two strips you linked are completely new to me. The pregnant gods AA is fabulous (I swear I'm gonna look for some info about Celtic Guy, 'cause he looks absolutely terrified and it's too funny)! And the one about Tyr? So adorable! *_*

Don't tell me, that song has become my new drug ... WE GOT THE Æ Ø Å! YOU AIN'T GOT THE Æ Ø Å! *insert embarassing dance moves here*

Uh ... just asking but, did you turn on the subtitles? XD Anyway, as far as I understand it, the plot is (more or less) this: the main characters were boy-scouts in the same international Nordic group, and they used to play kims lek together. Kims lek is a game where all players place their things under a veil or something like that, then they all look away as one of them removes one item. After that, the other players must guess what item was removed.
The main characters meet again as adult for an ex-boy-scout conferance. The Norwegian suggests they play kims lek again, but the Swede thinks it's a silly game for kids so the Norwegian proposes to play an adult version of the game where the stakes are much higher: money, cars, boats, houses ...
Only the Swede takes the game way too far: he "removes" the Dane's dick and he attempts to do the same with the Norwegian's life. The Norwegian is desperatly trying to reason with the Swede and to save himself and the Dane ... when the Finn suddenly pops up and decides to "remove" the Swede, the Norwegian and himself.
The moral of the story is (as far as I understand): a Dane's most important possession is his dick, the Danes are the Norwegians' only likeable neighbours, the Swedes are fucked-up bastards and the Finns are fucked-up and suicidal. Oh, and nobody ever remembers the Icelanders.
... And that is Norwegian comedy for you! XD
BTW, the accents crack me up every single time - dat Danish! <3 "KRISTOFFAH!" XD

Pfft, sanity. Who needs that anyway?

If I recall correctly, the vengenful goddess is Macha, and Chùchulainn is the hero who solves the situation.

Humon also draws wonderful pictures about Danish folklore, especially trolls. Why yes, I will keep torturing you. <3

Have mercy, I was watching it (and yes, of course I turned on the subs, I'm not that masochist yet! XD) with barely five hours of sleep on me. Rough night spent comforting a heartbroken friend, you know... Let's just say I'll watch it again tomorrow and probably laugh with more awareness. ;P
I loved the Finn, btw, he was total bonkers, but the Dane and his accent cracked me up! XD

Uuuh, Chùchulainn! Haven't heard of him in quite a loooooong time. It shows, I should definitely brush up on my celtic lore. u_u

I should start torturing you as well, but I'm not sure I know how... yet. <3

Sorry, it's just that I suddenly went "wait ... I DID link her the subbed one, right?" XD Anyway, I hope your friend feels better now. :)
... Though the original video is funny as hell too, if I you turn on the automatic subs. XD
The Finn is adorable, I just love the way he talks - the way he says "foyer" always crack me up, and his final lines are deliciously creepy. <3
But the Dane ... I want to feel sorry for that poor sod, but then he opens his mouth and I just burst out laughing! XD

Can't wait until you find something worth torturing me with, darling. I'm soo scared ... <3

Irrelevant P.S. time: have you had a chance to check out the Nibelungenlied parody? It's totally fine if you haven't had the time or something else, just asking. :)

As a matter of fact, my friend wrote me this morning to tell that he talked things out with his sweetheart. All's end that ends well, I suppose. ;)

Back to business, though. The Finn is indeed creepadorable (his way of saying "foyer" cracks me up too! XD) but the Dane. The Dane! If that portrayal of the Danish is even remotely accurate, I'm afraid I can never go to Denmark: I'll just downright laugh in the face of every poor soul who tries to approach me. XD

As for my torturing weapon of choice, I'm still looking for the perfect one, but in the meantime I have a bonus or two for you! Have one of my fav fanart!Lokis on the web, to begin with, and then a silly little comic about Az & Crowley dealing with the nativity. Also, since I'm a cynic and love dark humour to bits, do you know I'm bored to death? It's a super-funny comic about a very ill-fated Grim Reaper. XD

Would you believe it? I've just finished reading your parody! XD
It's adorable, smart and funny and just right in so many things! I don't even know what made me laugh the most, but I sure was wheezing with laughter by the time I read the dialogue between Ute and her daughter (that line about the stableboy? Masterstroke! XD). You get my seal of approval - and Crowley's, too. <3

I'm happy to hear it, both for him and for you. ^^ My older sister is stuck in a phase where she thinks she can make things work with a jerk, and my mom and I have to bear with her ...

Here is another video about Danish by Norwegian comedians:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-mOy8VUEBk

I REALLY hope it's just friendly teasing and exaggeration. Otherwise, I fear I won't ever be able to take Denmark or Danes seriously ever again. XD

I already knew that Loki fanart, but seeing it again is always a joy for my eyes. <3 And I think you got me hooked on those Good Omens fanarts - I started looking in the rest of the gallery, and it's all so damn perfect! *-*
I didn't know that webcomic, but I will surely check it out. It seems just so cute for a comic about death! XD
BTW, do you know The Adventures of Wiglaf and Mordred? It's about the unlikely (and quite bromantic) friendship between a lazy wannabe villain and and a not-so-perfect-after-all hero, and it's hilarious!

http://liliy.net/wam/archive/

I'm really really glad you liked it. ^^ I thought maybe I had gone a bit overboard with the "take that, Fandoms!" jokes, but I just couldn't help myself. XD
That approving and adorably cuddly seal fills my heart with pride. <3 *wipes a little tear away*

I'm sorry, that's usually messy... I hope for her and for you that the jerk in question becomes less of a jerk or that she decides to move on.
Funny thing is, I'm not that great with romance & relationships, myself, but I'm apparently good at giving advice about it, or so my friends seem to believe. Go figure... XD

That video about Danish communication barriers is now one of my favourite comic sketches EVER! It's sidesplitting - and I specifically looked up this word in the dictionary 'cause the level of awesomeness just called for it!

I must say, some Good Omens fanartists I'm quite addicted to: sometimes they get the characters just right and you can't help but fall in love with them. <3
And I'm positive you're gonna love at least a couple of those little strips about poor bored Death. He (it? she? ...let's roll with he) finds some ridiculously hilarious ways to entertain himself. XD
And thanks for suggesting The Adventures of Wiglaf and Mordred! I've just started reading the first chapters and I'm quickly falling for both Wyglaf and Mordred. *_*

Nope, the more meta-fandomic (yeah, ignore the probably non existent word) jokes, the merrier! <3

I really hope so, but my sister seems to gravitate towards jerks for some reason. This one romanced her a bit and kissed her, then stopped hitting on her and texting her to hit on some girl my age (... and he is almost 30. Am I seriously the only one who gets creeped out thinking about it?) ... and then he came back to my sister saying the fling with the barely-legal kid didn't mean anything (no, really?) and that he was way too busy with his Master's degree and his music (he is the director in a marching band) to handle a serious relationship. But, oh, he likes my sister, so could she please forget the way he treated to be in a not-really-serious relationship with him?
... Okay, TMI. XD Sorry, I think I just really needed to vent out ...

I know that feel - I'm not that great with this kind of stuff either, but then people feel the need to talk about it with me for whatever reason. XD And I generally listen and smile and try to give them some advice, but mostly in my head I'm just screaming "IF THIS SUCKS SO MUCH THEN JUST GET OVER IT DAMNIT!".
I can only be a hopeless romantic when it comes to fiction, it seems. XD

I know, right? The best thing is, their English isn't even really more understandable than the fake-Danish. XD

The Death webcomic is so adorable!<3 Creepadorable? I think I'm gonna use that much more often ...
You know, it kinda reminds me of a mix of Dead Like Me and Terry Pratchett's Death. XD
The first few chapters of WaM are the cutest thing - but wait until you get to the later ones, they're absolutely crazy! XD
About Good Omens, do you know A rather ineffable musical?

http://musical-omens.tumblr.com/

(... Damn, how do I put the links and the words together? ><)

I think there will still be lots of those, in the next chapters! XD

Holy hell, that's some very bad jerk, imho! O_O Just for the record, how old's your sister? Not that it matters, if I were in her shoes I'd probably tell the dickhead to go live his exciting life faaaaaar away from me whatever my age, at that point, but you know... I keep asking myself why so many people are attracted to idiots & bastards, though. You'd think one would be happy to avoid that kind of crap, not knowingly run into it! *confused*

Let's be romantic in our pretty little ficworld and be happy, indeed! Real life romance is too messy for me, but I'm a good listener and I'm guessing I've got that non-judgmental face that draws troubled friends to me, 'cause I've been doing the professional "shoulder-to-cry-on" for as long as I can remember... Forget languages, I should have studied to be a counsellor! XD

Terry Pratchett's Death is the best! As soon as I've got some time on my hands, I should really start reading the Discworld novels from the beginning. So many things to do, so little time to do them! *drama queen mode*

Oh my, oh my! I had never heard of A rather ineffable musical, how could I not know about such an awesome thing? I know some other fan-musicals, yes (the Supernatural fandom is pretty active, to name one), but I'll be thanking you till the end of days for telling me about this one! *_*

I always forget the right html and I always end up looking it up on Google, but you do it like this (without the blanks next to the brackets, though: I put those in only to make the code visible to you): < a href="url" >Link text< /a > ;)

My sister is 28, but naturally I agree with you and I keep telling her the same thing. She says that he isn't really a jerk as much as a dork who just discovered romance and doesn't know how to handle this kind of stuff - that he was scared of her at the beginning but now he is opening up, or something like that. I think now she's planning of training him like a dog ...
(Needlessly to say, I fucking hate it when people try to change their partners. I mean, if you like them the way they are, why change them? And if you don't like them, why are you into them in the first place?)
The thing is, my sister is an intelligent person. Heck, she is smart, cute, opinionated, sensible - and one hell of a stubborn bitch when she wants to. And for me it's really depressing seeing her pining for that guy.
But, oh well, I guess somehow it's always smart girls like her that fall for idiots. Something about the universe balancing itself, I think.

Yeah, I think the non-judgemental face is what gets people like us stuck in those situations. XD I'm really good at smiling and nodding in a reassuring way, you know? ;)

I love Death so freaking much! ** He's my favourite Discworld character, together with Lord Vetinari. <3

Then I must check out the Supernatural musicals! ^^ I didn't even know they were a thing. XD

Thanks, I really appreciate that! *hug*

Love is blind, uh? Deaf too, if I have any say in the matter. XD
I hope that your sister finds happiness, wherever she may try and look for it, and if her choice lies with mr. Dorky, there, I at least hope that she's right and that he's truly trying to become a better, more affectionate man.

If everything fails, well, I suppose you still have the nod & smile reassuringly option, but I sure hope you won't need it... é_è

Soundcloud if filled with Supernatural (and Doctor Who, and Game of Thrones, and many many more) fansongs and some of them are quite beautiful - this girl here, for example, is one of the first fan-songwriters I bumped into. I think the musical-project I had in mind was actually put on permanent hold due to some organizational problems, but there's plenty of fanmusic nevertheless, so... ^^

You're welcome, btw. <3

From: [identity profile] geilie11.livejournal.com
I imagine so. ;) I'm no expert, though. I do have two little stepbrothers, so if anything I'm an older sister, but they're both more than 15 years younger than me and live across the sea, so I usually barely see myself as a sister at all, let alone a protective one. XD

You're welcome, again, and now it's my turn to thank you for the Finnish Tag, 'cause I can't stop laughing! XD It's spot on! If I keep this up, I'm thinking that if I ever get married it's going to be to a Finn.

By the way, I've got something to show you: yesterday a friend of mine linked me this on Facebook and I immediately thought I had to come share it with you!

Date: 2014-07-01 03:14 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sigyn-medea.livejournal.com
I'm not really so used to being the protective one, myself, but - desperate times call for desperate measures, don't they? ;)

Even our tastes in men and unlikely marriage dreams match so well! XD I don't know, when I hear that sort of accent I ... okay, at the beginning I just laugh my ass off. XD But then I just get the urge to hug and cuddle a poor unsuspecting Finn - it's just something in the way they talk that makes me want to cheer them up, lol.
... Of course, a poor unsuspecting Finn wouldn't react all that well to crazy foreign girls randomly hugging them, but a girl can dream. XD
(And also the idea of panicking, scared-to-death Finns who just can't handle all the love and PDAs fills me with sadistic glee, but shh.)

Oh. My. LOKI!
That meme is so fucking (... frigging? I thought about about it while writing the Sigyn post and I think I should start using frigging more often) beautiful. And awesome. And brilliant. And just so damn right in everything! XD
Poor little Crowley, always ending up bookzoned (XD) and misunderstood ... but Aziraphale sure really IS a bit oblivious. XD

Date: 2014-07-01 04:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] geilie11.livejournal.com
Indeed they do. I hope you can go back to being the not-really-protective self soon. ;)

LET'S HUG ALL THE FINNS! \o/
True, to hug most of them I could probably use a ladder - they're so frigging (yup!) tall! - but who cares, right? I'd be content to hug them at knee level, I'm not choosy. XD
Those poor tall bearded and blondish men, surrounded by mad huggers... That'd be something! I'd most certainly be howling with laughter by the end of it all - that sadistic glee you were talking about? Yeah, I'm guilty as well, you're in good company. *brofist*

IKR? The moment I saw it I knew you would love it too. It's perfect, just perfect. Poor Crowley should win the Guinness World Record for the longest courtship in history. XD

BTW, the fic was absolutely awesome. <3

ALL THE FINNS! YAY! And hugging their knees will prevent them from running away! *-*
We'd probably do more emotional and psychological damage than a horde of drunken mooses running through Helsinki - actually I think that actually happened once, though it was just one moose. But we're fangirls, we're more dangerous and shocking than any moose. XD

I think this sums it up quite nicely. XD

Oh, sweetie, I'm sorry! Are you better today? Hope your fever's gone, by now! Sorry for the delay, I've been caught up in a little conundrum: my mum found a kitten on her car's wheels two days ago and we're keeping it - him, to be more precise - with us until we find him a new home. He's adorable, but he's a little rascal as well and our other two cats are not so happy about having a baby brother, so to speak, so we're forced to take turns in keeping him company. I've called him Crowley, because he's naughty as a devil and he's very much tempting us to keep him, but he's so wild that I'm thinking of changing his name to Loki. XD
Here, let me introduce you...

Fangirls are the most dangerous species on Earth, I dare say. Probably in the universe. So, yes, those poor Finns will be scarred for life. But you know what? I'm not so sure I mind that much. *evil grin*
I definitely remember that thing about the moose, btw. I remember laughing like a loony. XD

Poor sod! And you'd think an old devil like him would have more than a trick up his sleeve to successfully seduce somebody... XD

Aw, don't worry. :) I'm better now, I just have a sore throat and a bit of a headache.
Kittens are always a good reason for a little delay - and little Crowley (*-*) is soo cute and adorable! I'd love to cuddle it! <3 Hope the two ladies can adapt to having him around eventually - I did hear cats can be pretty territorial and diffident towards new pets.

I'm actually starting to pity those poor Finns. XD But it's not our fault if they're just so adorable and worthy of fangirly love, after all. They're just asking for it, really. xD

Dunno, he probably did try something - but I guess Az just didn't get it. XD

I'm happy to hear that. ^^
Lil' Crowley-Loki is currently sleeping on my mum's lap, hence my brief moment of freedom, and the two cat-ladies of the house today seem to be a little less cross with the whole universe, so we're hopeful... On the other hand, if I have to keep up with the crazy sleeping routine for much longer, with the kitten going to sleep well after 2 a.m. and waking up again at 8 a.m., I fear I'll soon become somethink like a zombie. @_@

Finns had it coming! Finns had it coming! They only have themselves to blaaaaaame! *singing*

You're probably right, Az is the most oblivious guy to have ever lived! XD

Hope you can get some decent sleep soon. :)

If you had seen them! If you had heard them! I betcha you would have done the same!
... Okay, I've never even seen Chicago, but I found the song on youtube some time ago and quickly discovered I love it to death. XD

I can just imagine Crowley trying to be all seductive and stuff and Az being all like "are you trying to tell me something, dear?" XD

Yeah, I thought that too! Silly me... He's wreaking havoc everywhere and my hands and thighs are COVERED in not-so-little scratches and bites. XD

Oh, I love Chicago. I even saw it live in London, quite a few years ago, and that song is probably my absolute favourite - isn't it gorgeous? Our cute variation is even better than the original, though! ;P

Exactly! Plus, every time I think about that I want to write something silly about the two of them and their never-ending bickering. <3
