What bothers me is ... what about male/female friendships? Why don't you scream in my face that I can't ship that guy and that girl because they're totally BFFs and reading something else into it is dirty and wrong and generally something bad fans do? Why aren't you disgusted every time the heroine ends up with her loyal (male) childhood friend? Or when the hero ditches the Alpha Bitch for the cute nerdy girl who's always been there for him and started pining for him when they were just little kids?
Do you think male/female friendship aren't important and shouldn't be valued as much as same-sex friendships? Do you honestly believe that men and women can't be just friends because it will always end in romance or at least sex? Or maybe the real problem isn't friendship at all?
